On Thursday, April 22, the Canadian federal government issued a new directive to halt all incoming direct flights from India for 30 days due to
very high positive COVID-19 tests conducted at the Canadian border in recent days and weeks. There is all possibility that if cases do not come down
substantially in the coming weeks it could be extended by another few weeks.
We know that some of our student(s) were getting ready to travel and begin their studies in Canada this May, and this adds to the mounting
frustration they must be feeling. At IMTP, we understand the impact of this sudden change in travel policy on our international students, and we
are actively working with our partner institutions to provide more guidance to you and your students during these challenging times.
As students begin to evaluate all their options, we want to remind you that this is only a temporary challenge. We encourage students to begin their studies online until they are able to travel in 30 to 60 days as is the case maybe. As you may already know, most schools in Canada have paused their in-class programs for May intakes even for current students due to the third wave of COVID-19 cases in Canada. Please be reminded that from having paid tuition fees to securing visas, you all have already come so far and start online classes. The long-term benefits of starting studies now far outweigh the challenges placed by current circumstances. IMTP Staff is here to assist you and all other students during these difficult times. We are advocating for the success of all our students, and will continue to share timely updates to help you make informed decisions. Please keep yourself and your families safe by always wearing masks outside and using sanitisers whenever you touch objects outside your home.
