"ANNOUNCEMENT FOR INCOMING INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS"
Due to the current spread of the Covid-19 global pandemic in the Republic of Latvia, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia has issued Regulations No. 360 “Epidemiological Safety Measures for the Containment of the Spread of COVID-19 Infection”. Article 27.2.6 of the Regulations provides that for international students who will commence their studies after 1 January 2021, the first semester of completion of higher education programmes (including examinations) shall be implemented remotely, and the completion of the practical part, if such is intended in the first semester, shall be moved to another semester.
THEREFORE, RSU WOULD LIKE TO INFORM YOU THAT STUDIES IN THE FIRST SEMESTER OF THE FIRST STUDY YEAR WILL BE IMPLEMENTED REMOTELY IRRESPECTIVE OF THE EPIDEMIOLOGICAL SITUATION.
The aim of RSU is to ensure a safe study process as well as safe social life for students and employees. Therefore, please do not plan your arrival to Latvia for the beginning of studies or during the first semester. RSU has gained the necessary experience, skills and is technically equipped to organise studies online. This statement goes in line with the fact that our students have studied remotely since March 2020 and both they and the university have managed to organise a very efficient online study process. The university is perfectly capable of organising the next semester online. Moreover, we are certain that online studies are a flexible and student centred approach that allows students to reach exactly the same study results while offering a study environment that takes care of students’ epidemiological safety.
