Singapore Institute of Management (SIM)

SIM is the largest and most comprehensive solutions provider of private
tertiary and professional training in Singapore. It was founded in 1964
as a membership society under the Economic Development Board and today,
has over 33,000 corporate and individual members. As a membership
society, SIM caters to the diverse and lifelong learning needs of its
members, from the young school leavers to mid-career professionals and
to the matured silver talent seeking self-actualisation. The membership
platform extends the learning beyond formal classroom lectures to
networking sessions through which real life insights and experiences are
shared and exchanged.
The SIM Group provides its core services through three educational
brands:
SIM University (UniSIM) is the first privately-funded local
university dedicated to the learning needs of working professionals and
approved by the Ministry of Education (MOE) to issue its own degrees in a
comprehensive range of disciplines;
SIM Global Education offers high-quality overseas degree
programmes through its partnerships with 11 established international
universities and institutions from all the over the world; and
SIM Professional Development provides short-term programmes and
workshops for executives and customised in-company training to its
corporate clients.
As a not-for-profit organisation under the purview of MOE, SIM enforces
stringent corporate governance guidelines to ensure transparency and
compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. In 2008, MOE
undertook a review of charities under its purview and SIM was assessed
to have demonstrated as having good governance practices in place.
As an education and training provider, the quality of our academic
programmes is of paramount importance. Towards this end, we have
instituted an academic governance structure steered by the internal as
well as external approaches to uphold our academic rigour and ensure
continuing improvements in our programmes.
In 2002, SIM was also one of two educational organisations to receive
the Singapore Quality Class (SQC) in recognition of its business
excellence. In 2003, SIM attained the Singapore Quality Class for
Private Education Organisations, an enhanced SQC recognition for the
education sector. In May 2010, SIM was awarded the coveted EduTrust
certification by the Ministry of Education (MOE). SIM is also amongst
the first private educational institutions (PEIs) to be registered under
MOE’s Enhanced Registration Framework (ERF), a mandatory registration
for all PEIs operating in and from Singapore.
SIM’s holistic approach to the all-round education and development of
our students has been carried through with conviction, and the results
speak for themselves. SIM students are consistently achieving record
number of honours, receiving excellence awards from our prestigious
overseas partner universities and earning numerous accolades in sporting
and creative events. Our students’ sense of compassion and heart for
community are also being nurtured through active participation in
various community and social projects, both local and overseas.
To fulfill our quality promise as well as to support our holistic
education philosophy, we spare no effort and resources in growing and
enhancing our facilities and infrastructure. SIM HQ, which is equipped
with state-of-the-art educational infocomm technology and supports a
comprehensive range of student development programmes and activities,
provides the ideal environment for nurturing sharp minds and developing
talent. On 18 September 2008, SIM launched a new and additional campus –
the SIM Global Education Campus at Ulu Pandan. This campus, which
comprises residential, sporting and recreational facilities, is the most
comprehensive private tertiary campus of its kind in Singapore.
Combined with the current SIM campuses at Clementi Road and Namly
Avenue, SIM now has the biggest and most comprehensive campus facilities
for a private tertiary institution in Singapore.
