The University of Nottingham is again confirmed in the intercontinental higher education elite, in global tables published this year (2008). The established world rankings index compiled by Shanghai Jiao Tong University ranks Nottingham 10th in the United Kingdom. The Times Higher World Rankings in 2008 place Nottingham in the Top 1% of all universities worldwide. The institution is now firmly established within the world’s 100 best universities in both tables.
This year the Sunday Times Good University Guide 2009 stated:
“……Always knocking on the door of our elite top 10, a place to study at Nottingham remains among the most sought-after in higher education. Teaching and research excellence spans all disciplines with only Cambridge and Manchester boasting more than Nottingham’s 33 top-rated teaching subjects.”
The other established world universities league table — issued by The Times Higher Education in the United Kingdom — currently ranks Nottingham 86th in the world. The University has risen more than 80 places since the table was first published in 2004
